Welcome to Wabanaki
Wabanaki Mental Health Association (WMHA) is a private, non-profit corporation, founded in 1996. Ten years later, in July of 2006, its board of directors voted to align with Sweetser.
Wabanaki (WUB-BUB-NOC-KEIG) translated means "people of the dawn land" and refers to the federation of five Northeast Native American tribes- Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, Maliseet, Micmac and Abanaki.
Wabanaki provides high-quality, culturally-sensitive psychological and social services to a Native American population from Hancock, Penobscot, Piscataquis and parts of Washington Counties.
